These membrane contactors utilize a microporous hollow fiber membrane inside a device designed to enhance flow dynamics and take full advantage of the large membrane surface area for stripping dissolved gases. With proper system design, ultra-low levels of dissolved gas can be achieved.The EXF Series are primarily used in process water treatment applications, operate inline, and do not require chemicals in operation. Products are available in a variety of materials that can handle flow rates from 3 gpm (0.7 m3/hr) up to 550 gpm (125 m3/hr) in a single unit. 3M™ Liqui-Cel™ Membrane Contactors can be connected in parallel or series configurations to handle even larger flow capacities and to achieve better degassing performance. Liqui-Cel membrane contactors can reach very low dissolved gas levels that can be difficult to reach with conventional gas removal technologies. Smaller flow capacity products, such as our EXF-2.5x8 and EXF-4x13 series can even be used in laboratories for feasibility testing and in low flow point-of-use applications, such as ultrapure rinse water in wet bench processing.
